Filmed in French with English subtitles, Spirit of Ravenclaw is a depressing (pun intended) that is best done by the beautiful set and music. I also like to see how they made Helena a ghost. To be honest, I’m not sure the Harry Potter TV show can even top this interpretation of the Ravenclaw story.
3. Voldemort: The Rise of the Heir

Filmmakers for Voldemort: The Rise of the Heir wanted to delve into the events leading up to Voldemort’s rise to power. He focuses on his quest for Hogwarts artifacts which he eventually turns into Horcruxes.
Through storytelling and beautiful cinematography, the film jumps between the questioning and the tragedy related to Tom Riddle, including his relationship with other alleged founders of Hogwarts, and the death of Hepzibah Smith.
This movie is a fun take on the Hogwarts movie, a cartoon that looks straight up Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, a house elf, and a real owl (!). It’s heavy on CG and special effects in some parts, but the production quality is high. Aside from the distracting English subtitles, it’s a well-made movie. And Stefano Rossi, who plays Tom Riddle, is very sad.
A long fan film, Voldemort: The Rise of the Heir less than an hour. So settle back with some popcorn and a Harry Potter-themed bar for your viewing pleasure.
4. Sisters of House Black

If you’re wondering why Bellatrix goes completely psycho and becomes a Death Eater, you have to watch Sisters of House Black. I won’t give it away, but the filmmakers managed to make Bellatrix a little bit different because of it.
The film centers around the Black sisters: Bellatrix, Andromeda (Tonk’s mother), and Narcissa (Draco’s mother) who are all as different as sisters can be. In the beginning, they are like a small covenant, stronger together than when they are not. But by the end of it, they are torn apart by their family’s obsession with pure blood and involvement with Lord Voldemort.
The story has a few time jumps, which, apart from repeating the story, allow us to see the progression of Bellatrix’s story arc. But it is surprising that this is one of the fastest fan films, even though it runs for 42 minutes. Lovers of Slytherins and Bellatrix will enjoy this gothic family drama.
5. Neville Longbottom and The Black Witch

One of the favorite movies on this list is Neville Longbottom and The Black Witch. Actress Kali Bailey tells the story of Neville’s parents, Frank and Alice Longbottom, and how they came to St. Mungo. It was a unique glimpse into the Longbottoms’ lives before Voldemort and his cohorts destroyed their family.
This movie is well made – its action is spread out – and everywhere, great effects (including flying letters!), and great acting. Kathryn Baker, who plays Bellatrix Lestrange, is absolutely terrific in this film and truly channels Helena Bonham-Carter in her portrayal of Voldemort’s most devoted servant. Because of the high production costs, it’s easy to get lost in the story and forget that this is an unofficial creation and not an official release.
There are also a lot of creative creative touches in the film such as moving greeting cards, paintings, and newspapers that look at one of the official films. And when Alice gives Neville the gum wrapper at the end? Intestinal rupture.
Be prepared because this may be the worst and most painful story to watch in the Harry Potter universe.
6. Severus Snape and the Marauders

Well, I have to admit, I like this. My husband and I helped make this fan film. But I promise it’s worth it!
Severus Snape and the Marauders went viral when it appeared in 2016, shared by BBC, Weekly entertainmentand MTV among other outlets. Crews shot the film in Los Angeles and fans from around the world raised a total of $31,000. Most of the extras are also from the now unspoilt professional camp, Hollywood Academy of Magic and Mystery (HAMM), so shout out to them!
The story focuses on the rivalry between Severus Snape, Harry’s father, James Potter, and his fellow Marauders: Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. It happens when they all graduate from Hogwarts and are on the cusp of the Great Wizarding War. After running into Snape at the bar, the Marauders decide to confront him, knowing he has a penchant for the dark arts.
Severus Snape and the Marauders is 25 minutes of beautiful cinematography and music, beautiful acting and incredible special effects. There are also many small references to details from the books.
