Remember the glory days of Instagram? Take a picture of anything (but usually a nice big latte you’re holding), slap a filter on it, and post it for all your friends to see. From those days, Instagram became a beautiful sea of beauty, food fit and, if you ask me, that is the highest number. Ask any millennial how they feel about Instagram these days, though, and you’re likely to get mixed reactions. From what I can tell, most of us love it and hate it at the same time. It’s no secret that Instagram users miss many of the original functions of the application (the aforementioned photo sharing) and feel left behind in the world of fast-paced Reels and the average user is not interested to create. That’s why it’s no surprise that a potential replacement for everyone’s favorite photo sharing app is here—Lemon8.
From TikTok can and outs, and Instagram is no longer what it used to be, the new kid on the block is very interesting. But is downloading and spending time on another social media app worth it? If you can’t figure out if the rise of Lemon8 will end before the app actually goes live or if you’ll regret not getting involved in time (the disappointment of having your favorite username is exist), I am here. everything you need to know.
To help you decide if downloading another social media app is worth it, I’m rolling my eyes, creating an account and trying Lemon8 for myself so I can give you the full scoop.
What is lemon8?
Lemon8 is a social media app that allows users to create and share visual content among their followers. With a few taps, users can post panoramic photos or videos and add filters, text, stickers, or music to their posts. It is very intuitive to use thanks to its user-friendly interface and advanced editing tools. The photos you browse in the Instagram app as far as performance goes, but you’ll find the same kind of content you’ll find on Pinterest.
How to use lemon8
From what I can tell so far, Lemon8 combines the best of the classics of Instagram with the inspiration that gathers Pinterest. I don’t think this is a platform where users have to share updates about new jobs, nightmares, or lost pets. Lemon8 feels more curated – and I mean that in a good way.
If you feel like your other social media channels are too limited for personal use and feel like you’re posting “stupid things” about things you like, then you’ll appreciate how Lemon8 is such a great group. scrolls for some of the things that make life interesting. such as fashion, travel, food, and home decor. I recently stumbled upon an account where the creator shares highlights from her day at Lake Como, her favorite shoe trend of the season, some restaurant tips for Charleston, and details of everything she wore for her entire wedding weekend. It gets into the nitty gritty details that you might think are beyond shareable on Facebook or Instagram if you’re not a social media business.
To get started, all you have to do is upload a photo or video (or several). You can post with one image or have several images in a “collage” (it’s like a collection). Then you can add text and graphics to the top of the post, along with keywords and hashtags. Rumor has it that adding text over a photo or video directly in the app instead of another photo editing app will make your content easier to find.
You can like posts, comment on them, or save them. So even if you don’t feel like posting on this app, you can contribute to content you find useful. You can also follow different accounts like you would on any other platform.
How I use lemon8
I’m not a very active social media poster – I’m an introvert. But that’s because I don’t get much interest from posting about myself. You’re more likely to see me scrolling through Instagram’s saved folders than actually creating content. This is why I was surprised to find out how much I wanted to post on Lemon8 in the first week of having it. Lemon8 dares to say it—make social media fun again.
Instead of posting about myself (besides the rule of knowing what I post and sharing with everyone on the app), I got creative. For me, this means sharing a bunch of travel photos from weekend stops that I want to remember in detail and corralling the water features and home decor into one post that I can look back on before my next shopping trip. . For me, Lemon8 seems like the best place to be creative. I see it as a place to show off the things you love, whether it’s in the form of sharing photos and videos you’ve taken or by saving inspiring photos. Think — a scroll meets a vision board.

Lemon8 doesn’t pretend it isn’t. It’s clear as soon as you get into the app, that it’s designed to be a creative platform. That doesn’t mean you have to be an activist to use the app or have a goal in making money. You can expect to see a lot of beautiful old-fashioned plains – which is refreshing. Why would someone direct a professional photo shoot to show me their sweater can’t stop this flow?
After years of being told that we have to be real on social media, it’s a nice change to be able to recreate our lives again – like sharing our favorite jewelry, the best hotel we’ve stayed at it, or our home decor can. Don’t get out of our head – and connect with others who are interested in those things.
