Being single is a wonderful time to thrive and feel like your true self. It’s time to focus on you – whether that’s your favorite hobby, your job, hanging out with your friends, or waking up knowing you have a full day to yourself (something my favorite of all time). It is also a period of youth that can strengthen the sense of independence and confidence. But at any time in a successful marriage comes struggles, such as breaking up, being lonely at times, or being friends together that let you know whenever you unmarried. It’s hard to find a movie that covers so many things that make up married life. However, over the years, I have collected a collection of films for single women that approach.
The right movie for your single girl’s time should inspire you to start your life and open up endless possibilities ahead when you hit a tune that only one person can understand. Here are some of the best movies for single women:
1. Start again (2013)
I’m watching Start again most of the time there is something wrong with it. This movie stars Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. Keira plays Gretta, a musician who moves to New York City with her new celebrity boyfriend. Mark Ruffalo plays a record producer who falls into despair in his life. They meet randomly and, while one might think this is a rom-com, it is not. The focus is on Gretta’s journey to make her own music (awesome sound) and make her way through the process. This is a great watch if you’re looking for a fresh start and a hopeful storyline.
2. Amelia (2001)
Amelia is a film, an emotion and a work of art at the same time. It’s a French film that you can watch with subtitles, although it has some serious moments, it feels very real and shows what it’s like to live alone and spend time think your thoughts. The film follows Amélie, who works in a Paris cafe. His main purpose in life is to help others in small ways, such as recovering lost property. If you are looking for a dream that inspires you single life, or even solo travel and travel, this is for you.
3. Asians are rich (2018)
Asians are rich is one of my go-to shows when I need a boost, and what I like most about it is the many iconic scenes. Aside from the main characters, I have always found that Astrid, played by Gemma Chan, is a great inspiration for claiming independence and generally rocking in all areas of life, even when relationships are not another center. And of course, Peik Lin, played by Awkwafina, will inspire you to have several branded dresses in your trunk for any girl’s party.
4. The Eternal Sun of Immaculate Mind (2004)
This is for those who have experienced the pain of a breakup. The Eternal Sun of Immaculate Mind stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, who play musicians who go through medical procedures to forget each other. The story is well written and explores the pain of love, loss, and wanting to forget. Although it sounds loud, it is a good movie for a single girl who wants a little catharsis in their movie watching experience.
5. Hidden reading (2016)
With an incredible cast including Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, Hidden reading tells the story of three mathematicians who were important to NASA in the early years of space exploration. It covers the power of friendship and the struggle of pushing boundaries in a field that does not welcome newcomers. Not only is it a great movie, but it will also inspire you to push the boundaries in your own career and dream to play music in your life.
6. Eight seas (2018)
With a packed cast, including Sandra Bullock, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Cate Blanchett and many more favorite actors. Eight seas fun to watch. Sometimes single life is all about getting your friends together to achieve a common goal, and this is definitely an example of that, albeit a very serious one. This movie will get your adrenaline pumping for another day of taking on the world with all your unique skills.
7. Personal Connections (1992)
This movie is a classic, but one that everyone should see at least once. Personal Connections follows these young women who are introduced to soccer during World War II. It has a great cast, including Madonna, Geena Davis, and Rosie O’Donnell to name a few. While this story can be relatable to anyone who plays team sports, it also explores the limitations of women’s choices during this time, and the importance of being able to live life in one’s own way. And while you’re at it, watch the series by the same name on Amazon Prime. It has a coherent and updated story and I really like it.
8. Say a prayer of love (2010)
I’m hesitant to recommend this movie just because it’s often talked about in the book when it comes to singles. But, there is a reason Say a prayer of love is popular. This movie, starring Julia Roberts, shows beautifully and vividly what it means to move forward and hope for one person, one step at a time. time. While we may not all be able to take time off to travel the world for months at a time, the show will inspire you to try new things (and new foods!) and prioritize spending time on yourself.
9. Bird Lady (2017)
When Bird Lady is a coming-of-age story, it perfectly defines what it means to be a child and to be stuck in one place, thinking you are on another stage in life. As a single person, sometimes it’s easy to imagine what life will be like in a relationship. Bird Ladythrough the lens of mistakes and triumphs of the narrators, will remind you that it is good to make mistakes, to grow and learn, and to appreciate where you are, now.
10. La La Land (2016)
In my opinion, a movie for your bachelorette party would not be complete without a musical selection. La La Land is a horror and horror film about life in Hollywood, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. We meet the characters when they are single, and we see them go through many stages of life, from heartbreak to success. In his mind, it’s like two people growing up and becoming their own person. It’s the best movie to remind you that life isn’t about who you end up with.
11. The Hunger Games (2012)
Okay, this may sound like it’s out of this category, but there’s something about dystopian movies that makes me happy to hang out. I think it has to do with life and death now, and some kind of escape. The main character is Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and although a love interest is shown throughout the story, her character does not have time to think about it properly because she is busy working. let him live. I find that these high quality movies remind me to cherish every moment of my life, especially when every day is a wonderful day to be a single girl.
