When Love is blind the first one came out in 2020, I think it’s a stupid idea. People dating through walls, in pods, not knowing what they look like? But it was that madness that made me want to watch every movie, follow the cast on social media, and read every article about this movie on the internet. So, you know, normal television lover behavior.
Turn on Love is blind, we see relationships that go in all different directions. We see couples who have successful relationships, break up in pods, and even end up at the altar. We also see how family and friends interact with cast members and their significant others. Since there are many movies and Love is blind that makes the show so addictive, the relationship shows us so many green flags and lessons to learn from the show.
1. Emotional connection is the foundation of a strong relationship
One of my favorite things Love is blind is the general foundation – all relationships begin with a strong emotional connection. This allows the contestants to get to know each other on a deeper level without physical attraction repeating their initial impressions. One of the reasons we see these couples falling for each other so quickly is because they spend hours upon hours getting to know each other—finding the little things they interact, share stories, and build deep bonds. When you focus on emotional connection and physical connection, you will really get to know the person without making the first impression based on what you usually find attractive in the partner.
2. Body language is just as important as verbal communication
The downside of dating through a wall is that you don’t see their body language. When you can only hear someone, you can’t see them, you can miss some of the important messages they are telling you. Language includes everything from facial expressions, eye contact, behavior, posture, and more, which is why it’s important to watch when you first get to know someone.
When you’re on a first date (or any date), pay attention to the language so you can really understand what your date is saying. It is a little text in what a person is thinking or feeling at this time, which is missing in the days in the pod.
3. Confidence comes from within, not from others
The idea of going on a reality dating show sounds like fun if you’re ready to find love and settle down. But are you really ready? Over the years, we’ve seen quite a few people who enter the pod have a hard time finding love because they unconsciously expect a relationship to meet their needs. When the truth is they need to focus on loving themselves.
Before you embark on the journey of finding love, take the time to love yourself first. Know yourself and really understand what you want and need in life, both from yourself and from your partner. It may sound like repetitive advice, but loving yourself and loving your life before sharing it with someone else can make all the difference in how you feel in a relationship.
4. It is important to ask the difficult questions in time
Those who are in Love is blind spend only 10 days getting to know each other before committing, so they have little time to find out if their values and vision for the future are aligned. In season 3, Alexa and Brennan need to talk about family and religion deeply, because Alexa wants to honor her values of being a Jewish woman. Despite the short term, Brennan said he would convert to Judaism for Alexa.
When the time is turned on Love is blind is very fast paced compared to that of a relationship, it is important that you always ask the important and difficult questions in time. Having these difficult conversations about religion, values, future plans, and family early on can help make or break your relationship.
5. People will show you who they are in time
Over the years, there have been many couples I thought I loved from the pod, including Shake and Deepti (S3). While in the pods, Shake talked about women’s weight and body image, asking if the women he was talking to were too small to be carried on his shoulders at a music festival, which … not good. As viewers, we were a little skeptical about it, but Deepti really likes Shake, is attracted to him and his good nature, and we are all rooting for him to find happiness. At the end of the day, Shake really shows his true self in the pod, and Deepti deserves better.
As if Deepti is our friend, we hope that Shake will settle once they come out of the pod and they will have a romantic relationship. But, he showed us who he is in time. He couldn’t shake his first impression of Deepti being a year younger than him and physically not his type. Although he ‘tried’, she eventually admitted that he didn’t like her and that she reminded him of his aunt instead of a romantic interest. Then, when the wedding didn’t go ahead, he tried to treat the day as a celebration for her rather than a lack of love.
When you meet someone, if they do or say something that makes you think about them, go with your gut. A good friend of mine always told me that you can’t date; you need to accept people as they express themselves.
6. Hunger can cloud your judgment
In the new era of Love is blind, we saw Zack fall for two women, Irina and Bliss, finally choosing to propose to Irina at the end of their time in the pods. Although he loved Bliss, he longed for Irina, but unfortunately it made him make the wrong choice. However, we are all very happy that, finally, Zack and Bliss reunited and are now happily married!
There is a big difference between love and lust. In fact, there is a difference between the two that is why I spent a semester of college learning about the different types of love, passions and emotions that people can experience throughout their lives. Many people confuse love with lust, which we see in many shows like Love is blind. Lust can lead to love but be sure to take the time to fully understand your feelings before jumping to any big conclusions or decisions.
7. Love is more than a feeling—it’s a choice
The biggest thing we can learn from it Love is blind is that love is a choice. To love someone is to accept them as they are, with their good qualities as well as their faults and everything in between. We have seen some strong couples emerge Love is blind—Lauren and Cameron, Tiffany and Brett, Chelsea and Kwame, and Alexa and Brennan, just to name a few. These couples chose each other, they chose to put in the work, and continue to strengthen their love every day.
